Occasions That Can Be Experienced
Journeys timed to Bhutan’s living festivals and seasons
Masked dances in the great dzong courtyards, fire blessings at midnight, nomad games at 3,800 metres and the winter return of the Black-Necked Cranes — every Festival Tour is timed so you are there for the occasion itself. Each one includes a private vehicle with a licensed English-speaking guide, 3-star tourist-standard hotels, all meals and the Sustainable Development Fee. Choose from six journeys and we will match the dates to this year’s festival calendar.

Winter in the Phobjikha Valley as the sacred Black-Necked Cranes arrive from Tibet — spotting scopes at the RSPN Crane Center, the Gangtey Nature Trail, the Crane Festival in early November and bukhari-warmed lodges.

Over Chelila Pass into the hidden Haa Valley for the Haa Summer Festival — Khuru darts, yak shearing, Hoentey dumplings and alpine meadows in bloom, then Thimphu, Punakha and Tiger’s Nest.
