Overview
Learning Bhutan is Gu-Mar Travels & Tours’ 10-day holistic study program, designed to turn the country into a cross-disciplinary laboratory for young minds. This immersive route takes student delegations through Thimphu’s urban policy centers, Punakha’s subtropical farming ecosystems, and Phobjikha’s protected glacial wetlands.
Instead of just touring landmarks, students actively analyze Bhutan’s approach to environmental sustainability, cultural preservation, and socio-economic development, engaging in direct peer-to-peer dialogues with Bhutanese youth at every stop.

- An introductory Gross National Happiness seminar and a visit to the National Institute for Zorig Chusum.
- A full-day bilateral exchange at a Bhutanese high school, with shared classes, sports and cultural performances.
- An agricultural field study through the irrigation channels of Sopsokha village to Chimi Lhakhang.

Leave the capital after breakfast for a 3-hour scenic mountain drive to Punakha, the ancient winter capital. The route climbs steadily through dense oak forests up to the magnificent Dochula Pass (3,100 m) to study the unique geography of the Eastern Himalayas and explore the historical context of the 108 chortens.
Descend 1,700 meters into the subtropical valley and set out on an agricultural field study, walking through the irrigation channels of Sopsokha village to Chimi Lhakhang, learning how rural farming communities protect their ancestral lands from urban encroachment.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner | Overnight: Punakha
